Fallout, Metal Gear, Bloodborne
De Game Awards, het dichtst dat de videogamebranche het dichtst bij de Academy Awards van de film heeft, staan gepland voor 3 december. Met slechts drie weken voor het evenement zijn genomineerden aangekondigd voor de 22 categorieën.
Na de gebruikelijke categorieën die genres benadrukken, zijn er een aantal bijna onderaan gericht op de gemeenschapskant in plaats van de ontwikkelingskant. Drie categorieën zijn gewijd aan eSports, met twee markerende spelers en een vol met jaren oude spellen (en geen vermelding van Rocket League !). Er is ook de categorie 'Trending Gamer', met een aantal YouTubers en 'Best Fan Creation', kijkend naar mods en gemeenschapsprojecten.
Genomineerden voor Game of the Year zijn From Software's bloodborne , Bethesda's Fallout 4 , Welke productie Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Nintendo Super Mario Maker en CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt . De genomineerden voor de Developer of the Year zijn overbodig, met die vijf studio's die de cut maken.
